About "New Boston, Texas"

This song is inspired by my home town but it could be many small towns in the south. I wrote this song after looking through some old photo albums and reflecting on memories of the past. Not all "characters" in the song are exactly like they are in real life. Some characters are a combination of several memories and others reflect life, in general, rather than one actual person. But the names of the sports teams are definitely FOR REAL! :-)

I've been performing "New Boston, Texas" at gigs for the past few years and it has become a crowd favorite, so I decided to release it as a single to share more broadly. People from many different small towns, and even some from larger cities who have family in small towns, tell me it sounds like their communities. The smiles on their faces when they hear a line that brings back a memory, or is just something they can relate to, is what it's all about.

"New Boston, Texas" will be included on my album to be released in 2020.

I hope you enjoy it. If you have happy memories of New Boston, Texas or another small town community, do share!
